Hello dearie

My play, Hello Dearie, to be performed with no words spoken, actors use motions, gestures and facial expression. Mood music throughout.


Hello Dearie


Early 20’s male character, rude, abusive, lives alone in a large house, with garden, with steps.


Main character is known, but not by name, people just point and motion for people to keep away from them.


main character seems gruff, explosive, reactionary.


Other characters motion “Don’t talk with him”.


music festival, bands/performers occupying bars around town and with main stage set up in town centre.


late in the day, our main character,  wearing large coat hood up, black boots.


Second character, Late 20’s male, watches our first character.


Ten pm at night, people milling about, alcohol around, band on stage playing an upbeat track.


Suddenly our main character throws off their coat, underneath they’re wearing …. racy women’s underwear, covering all the main bits, but unmistakably women’s underwear.


people point and stare, some acting disgusted, others gaze at the floor. Our main character starts to walk off, clearly uncomfortable, apparently somewhat drunk, leaving their coat behind.


Our second guy follows, bringing the first characters coat, he trails our first character, after a while he approaches, The couple stand awkwardly, then the second guy wraps the coat around the first character, the first character now pliant, they continue walking, they enter the first character’s house, the first character stumbles, second guy puts our main character into bed and climbs in beside them, his arm resting over the first character. they fall to sleep.


In the morning they wake up, they see each others face, they read understanding, they have smiles, they touch, they kiss, they’re making love.
Later in the day, our couple are showered, second guy has laid out a dress for our main character, then waits downstairs. Our main character dresses, and then comes downstairs. they leave the house and walk along in plain view, the difference is stark, people see how happy the couple are, they feel a little uncomfortable, but the overwhelming positive vibes radiating from a couple in love cannot be denied and all the townsfolk begin to smile as well, and we have joyous music.

My favourite thing about being trans is…..




Ok, I can see looks of horror, and astonishment, but those of you with dirty minds, well, stop reading now. Those of you with astonishment read on.


I like being clean and cleaning, now the myth of the lazy slob of a guy is another passive/aggressive sexism from women, men are told that they are lazy and then if a man does cleaning, he is a sissy house husband? (ty Queen), or he is gay.


I just like cleaning, as in, I like things to be clean, and it’s a common theme within the Trans narrative and something that gets overlooked, because sometimes it is talked about “Within trans circles”, sometimes factual, sometimes and perhaps more strongly within fictional literature.


Somehow we have a society that has determined that only women can clean, or want to be clean, men are scared to clean for fear of being called gay, or a sissy.


I wash the pots, I dust the house, I wash and iron the clothes, I mop floors, I clean windows.


When I visited my parents, my mother jokingly said I could clean the windows, yet when I said I would she backtracked fast, I felt uncomfortable.

At work I dust the shelves, and when a woman customer saw a cobweb and suggested I climb up to clean it I did, and it’s good that I did that, though I don’t imagine that will be rated as good performance by the company I work for.

Following on from Gendered Intellingence the next organisation tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in our schools that we are going to look at is Educate and Celebrate.

Edcuate and Celebrate Logo 1Educate and Celebrate is an Ofsted recognised teacher training and resource programme that gives staff, students, parents and governors the confidence and strategies to implement an LGBT+ Inclusive curriculum to successfully eradicate homophobia, biphobia and transphobia from our schools and communities. This approach has been highly successful Ofsted February 2012.

Focusing on 5 core areas, the best practice programme invites teachers, students, parents and governors to partake in whole school change through training, policy, curriculum, community and environment giving opportunities to reflect upon their experiences.

The Timelords, never anything apart from pushed from pillar to post for the sake of a storyline designed to make The Doctor appear credible.

The pushing of female characters, well, all well and good, but Clara and Ashildr… they are pushed, they are pushed as immortal, and as The Doctor’s equals, and yet The Doctor is a timelord, used to regenerating, Clara and Ashildr, both now immortal, both Human, and we touched upon Ashildr having trouble remembering everything, hence having to write in her journals, ie:- having to form a physical memory bank. One gets a scary feeling that these characters are being primed for a spin off show, and yet their characteristics are tied, absolute to The Doctor, if The Doctor is gone then what? Also to add, it would seem as though Clara is the boss? Ashildr happy to go along with what Clara wants? And how ugly in the final scenes of Hell Bent, Ashildr enters the TARDIS, and it has been proposed by The Doctor that Ashildr “Wants” his TARDIS, so here she is, inside a TARDIS, and she? And she? And she whats? She stands nicely out of scene whilst Clara has her moment with The Doctor????? WTF? Honestly? You can just shift a character to the side for the scriptwriter’s convenience? Well, somebody thinks themselves above all others, ie:- Mr.Moffat…. I mean… at least production has improved from the Rory and Amy days….

Random hybrid, blah blah blah, and Clara telling the Timelords that they’re hated? Jeez, everyone’s hated by someone and nobody should know that better than the yawnsome Clara Oswald, a desperately mediocre character, who has no drive, no ambition… she works at a school, and her pupils? Who cares about them? She is bored with her school life and with her pupils, so she goes running off i=with The Doctor in the TARDIS????? Honestly??? To what end? ahhh, and here we then draw up Sarah Jane Smith, a well drawn character with purpose, somebody who can get by without The Doctor to hold her hand, and we’ll give Martha Jones an honorable mention within this respect too…. but Clara??? A selfish person wanting to take more from life than the rules allow, well then maybe she is The Doctor’s protege , and I mean, at least she can pull off being universally hated like The Doctor, though whether she’ll ever get the pompous I am right, I’m never a fighter (Except the doctor shoots the other Timelord), I’m a coward, I’m The Doctor, somebody who defies death, who defies physical suffering (Though he’s happy to leave the DALEK and other “Baddies” to their fate within the Gallifreyan dungeons), ahhh allowing others to suffer mental torture, well, that’s how this Doctor rolls (Eccleston took pity on a suffering DALEK).

Production has improved somewhat with this Doctor, but mainly it’s a cheat, smaller pictures, don’t show a wide landscape… unless it’s pretty barren, yeah, a war field, yeah, a desert landscape with a small snow globed Gallifreyan citadel in the distance, Yeah, we have a puzzle castle, surrounded by a vast ocean landscape, a bland nothingness, all really cheap plot tools just like pushing characters out of shot for convenience.


At the diner and then The Doctor meets Clara but doesn’t recognise her, and because he’s a smart Timelord with Centuries of experience, and he spots this coincidence where he remembers a diner in the Nevada desert and he doesn’t “Read” the situation? He is just pushed around by Clara, is that what this is all about? Some kind of role reversal, femdom???? You do know that Clara is Human yes? So now Humans are smarter than Timelords? WHATEVER BLAH BLAH BLAH.


We want strong female characterisation…. we’re waiting impatiently. (Yes we’ve had snippets, but for me Clara and Ashildr, a push too far, IMO)
